Hip Hop Choreographers

The job of hip hop choreographers is to come up with routines and pieces for stage or to perform for dancers in a hip hop style

Not surprisingly many hip hop songs employ hip hop choreographers when they need routines done for their videos or stage performances, though it is common for other styles of music to use hip-hop choreographers also.

Often choreographers will have to submit their choreography for the song so those casting can see what they will do with the song. The people in charge of casting and on the other side of performance will then look at the submissions and choose the one that they think is most appropriate.

Different choreographers all have different hip-hop styles. Some like to dance to the beats while some like to use the lyrics more. Some have smooth routines, some like rawer and more aggressive choreography.

There is not necessarily one type of choreography that will work with every song and so choreographers will prefer to work with certain types of songs as well.

Many of the top hip-hop choreographers are based in the USA today, many in LA or in New York. They are often based at top dance studios like The Edge, Millenium Dance Complex or Debbie Reynolds Studios.
